We are inviting You to an exciting excursion introducing You to the historical way of living of the Paper Mill's workers.
During the walk You will have a chance to follow the everyday life of the Paper Mill's workers through a lifetime. Staring with a birth in the old Childbirth Hospital, the School years till the work in the Paper Mill and the family life in the wooden row houses. We will invite You to visit the beautiful building of the culture centre and to step inside the cellar caves which were dug into the sandstone cliffs since the end of 18th Ct.

Guided tours to Ligatne Paper-Mill
The history of producing paper in Ligatne dates back to 1815 when the first sheets of paper were produced here of old fabric rags. The company’s golden time was the end of 19th Ct when it was granted permission to produce so called tsar’s paper – paper with watermark of tsarist Russia’s two-headed eagle. Nowadays you have an opportunity to go to excursion in Ligatne Paper-Mill and see how few years ago it were worked.

Guided tour to Ligatne cave cellars and rocks!
The first cellars in the rocks of Līgatne were established already in the 18th century. The only place in Latvia, where more than 300 artifical cellars are situated in a small area. They were dug by locals residents for the household needs of the families, for storage of other items, as well as for public purposes. In this guided tour you can see caves who’s located out of town.
In this excursion also you can see Ligatne Paper-Mill, Ligatne river and little bit of historical centre of Ligatne Paper-mill village.
Only guided excursions on the long path of rocks and caves are available pursuant to a previous application in the summer season from 1 May to 31 October (depending on the weather conditions).
